What do we have planned?

Looking towards the future of healthcare interoperability

Thursday, September 19th - Friday, September 20th

Our mission with the Iguana User Conference has always been to provide our user community with educational content, interactive networking opportunities, and of course to have some fun!

The Iguana User Conference features two full days packed with presentations and sessions designed to educate, inspire, and provide actionable takeaways that can immediately be put to use to make our customers more efficient and proficient with Iguana.

This year's topics will include:

  • The market shift towards API-based integration
An overview presentation on the state of the healthcare interoperability market with a focus on the current market shift towards API-based integration.

  • The challenges of working with APIs
We will explore the common challenges of working with APIs and discuss strategies involved in overcoming these challenges.

  • Working with cloud vendor APIs
The major cloud vendors like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon continue to expand their offerings targeted at healthcare organizations. As a result, we will dive into some examples of working these cloud vendor APIs.

  • Exploring the management of APIs
For organizations that expose APIs either internally or externally, API management can represent many challenges. We will discuss and demonstrate solutions to some of these challenges that come with ensuring APIs are consumable and secure.

  • API data normalization
When integrating with multiple systems, data standardization and normalization play a significant role in speeding up your integration efforts and to lessen the challenges involved with scaling. We will demonstrate through real-world techniques how data normalization can be achieved.

  • How to Connect to FHIR Server
We will examine the current capabilities of FHIR and discuss the challenges inherent in integrating with EMRs using FHIR. We will provide an interactive demonstration using Iguana how to connect to an EMR.

  • Using Iguana's internal APIs
We will explain and demonstrate how through the use of Iguana’s internal APIs, you can gain tighter control over your current and future integrations.

  • And more!
Product demonstrations, product roadmap discussions, prizes, networking opportunities, great food, a boat tour and more!

IUC Theme Primer: Challenges for web API implementation

Compared with traditional point-to-point interfaces, the world of web services such as FHIR puts both more control and more responsibility in the lap of interface builders. How does the development process change to account for security, data modelling, data exchange and other concerns?

How To Migrate Your Integration Engine to the Cloud

By 2020, it is expected that every health care provider will have made a footprint into cloud computing. With the new ONC and CMS regulations, API Integrations are integral to advance interoperability across health care systems. This session will provide high level snapshots of current cloud based vendors, and understand how their usages are leveraged within Iguana while maintaining privacy, security, and compliance.

Using APIs to Control Your Internal and External Data Exchange

As organizations continue to grow and scale, so do their integration needs. Having a single integration hub becomes crucial in reducing the number of integrations that are required, allowing for better control and monitoring of all traffic. This session will demonstrate how Iguana can be used for creating, managing, and monitoring APIs that clients can use to communicate with any system.

How To Rapid Scale Your Integrations Using APIs

This presentation will focus on four key concepts:

  • How to effectively integrate with multiple systems
  • How to accelerate the process of integrating between multiple data standards (i.e. HL7, X12, FHIR, CDA etc.) and different data protocols (SQL databases, web services, flat files, etc.)
  • Understanding strategies for API design and management
  • How to scale the design process using our Iguana API designer

EMR Integration Using FHIR

Approximately 82% of large hospitals are utilizing FHIR to some degree to transfer data between EMRs, EHRs, payers and vendors (ONC, 2018). This presentation discusses the current FHIR capabilities and trends that exist amongst EHR/EMR vendors and large hospitals. The Da Vinci project, an initiative that strives to promote value based care via workflows and implementation guides will be discussed as well as how the initiative leverages FHIR. Furthermore, we will discuss Iguana's integral role in the process, and how it has the ability to connect and integrate with any FHIR enabled EMR and EHR system.

Supersize your monitoring through APIs

This presentation addresses three business cases where the Iguana Monitor API can be used to extend Iguana’s capabilities to improve and adapt Iguana workflows, like monitoring and troubleshooting, and fitting Iguana into different IT landscapes.

  • Discover how to extend the capability of Iguana’s monitoring and notifications by integrating with Enterprise Monitoring Solutions through Iguana’s Monitor API.
  • Learn how to expand custom Iguana notifications by monitoring queue depth, to better understand throughput capacity and performance.
  • Explore a secure approach for monitoring on-premise, remote Iguana servers.

Reducing friction in Iguana licensing

iNTERFACEWARE’s new business and technical solutions promise less time spent resolving licensing changes and updates. We will review licensing workflow options, including where Iguana’s new license API might support automated licensing during deployment.

Opening up log insights to the outside world

Iguana’s logs contain actionable information that’s potentially useful for other applications as well as personnel who don’t use Iguana directly. The Log API can be a key conduit for providing visibility over interface status and security. This presentation will give insight into how you can use Iguana's Log API to address some common business problems and provide more visibility into data for non-Iguana users.
